They don't make 'em like this anymore! Research of the paper label inside this clock suggests that it was made in the 1860's! This beautiful Seth Thomas Eight Day Brass Clock has a solid wood case with pretty wood veneer and a glass paned front door with reverse painted Lady Liberty and an Eagle on the bottom pane. From the right angle you can see the ripples in the glass on top portion of the door which is a great indication of its age. Inside is the original paper label which includes the directions for setting the clock and keeping it in order. This is a weight driven clock and there are heavy 2.5" x 2.5" x 5.5" weights on either side of the face which appear to be made of lead. The face is metal and painted in cream with faint pink flowers and greenery, some of the paint is chipping. This clock is large and measures 17" x 4.5" x 29.5" tall. There is some wear and a couple chips along the bottom in the veneer which are fairly minor considering the age of this piece. It comes with the key which winds the clock and it appears to be functioning though we are not experts on this type of clock. The pendulum swings and it has a wonderful rich toned chime to announce the hour. A true treasure, don't miss out on this one!
